Text:   3. LEMUEL2 FANCHER, born in Branford Conn., in 1745 twin of Thomas Fancher, died in Watertown, Conn., 4 July 1789. He married , in Northbury (now Plymouth), Conn., 1 June 1779, SARAH LOOMIS, who upon the death of Lemuel Fancher married in Northbury, 21 Nov. 1791, Aaron Luddington of Norfolk, Conn.
   
Lemuel Fancher, on 26 June 1769, bought land in North Framingham, Mass., from Samuel and Hannan Elwell (his brother-in-law and sister) and sold the same 17 March 1771 to Thaddeus Booth.
   
Lemuel Fancher enlisted for the Revolution 1 May 1775 and was mustere out 1 Aug. 1775, from Landes borough in the 9th Regiment of col. David brewer, company of Capt. Abiather Angel; later was corporal in the company of capt. John Wright of the same 9th Regiment. Lemuel Fancher was among the first to organize the Episcopal church in Northbury in 1784.
   
The records of the church of Christ, Plymouth Congregation, show Lemuel Fancher and wife were admitted to full commuion 1 Sept. 1788 and that on 21 Sept. 1788, Flora, Eunice and Numan (sic), children of Lemuel were baptised in the church.
   
Waterbury Probate Records, vol. 1, pp. 488. and 194 to 498, disclose the estate of Lemuel was insolvent and the widow's dower was set out to provide for the needs of the family, which the census of 1790 states consisted of 1 male under 16 years and 3 females.This inventory, made 9 March 1790, shows a quantity of odd leather and scraps, indicatin Lemuel was a shoemaker or harness maker, as his real estate was small with little stock.
